Guidelines And Rules

Guidelines for Students or Visitors: Student and visitor must keep their room clean.   Student, visitor or roommate must respect the privacy of the host at all times.    Telephone cards MUST be used for all long distance and overseas calls. Telephone use as well as use of all appliances (TV, video, computer etc.) is a privilege and cannot be used without permission.    Smoking is not permitted in the house, however, outside the house is okay.  The student or visitor  is expected to organize her own laundry both for personal effects and for linen, towels etc.  Light cooking is permitted, but clean-up after meals is expected.    Student or visitor  will not invite guest(s) unless expressly permitted by the host.    In view of security concerns, if the student or visitor intends to come late (after 10PM) she must inform the host accordingly. Students are to be dressed appropriately at all times, remember we are a family.  Please do not give strangers our address EVER.  If you do not really know the person do not have them pick you up or drop you off at our residence, this will keep all of US SAFE at all times.  Please do not have guest in the house when we are not home no exceptions. Please do not take rides from strangers EVER.    Cancellation:  Once a student pays for their room in full we can not give any refunds 30 days prior to your arrival date.  If you wish to cancel you must cancel prior to 30 days of your scheduled trip.  We have to turn other students away based on your reservation.  So we need more than 30 days to find someone else to take the room. 

                                   Lawson's Home Stay Rules

1.   No food is allowed in the rooms.  Food in your rooms attracts: ants, insects, and other unwanted bugs.  No alcohol/drugs are allowed in our home at any time. 

2.     Showers should be no longer than 5-10 minutes long.  There is no new water being produced, and we will do our part to conserve water.  If you go over the 10mins we will ask you to time your showers in the future to make sure you adhere to this critical rule.  PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR LIGHTS AT NIGHT. NO EXCEPTIONS.  PLEASE TRY TO CONSERVE ELECTRICITY AT ALL TIMES.   

3.    We offer shared internet use in our home.  We ask that students use the shared internet
no earlier than 8:00am and no later than 9:00pm.  Students are limited to 45 minutes peruse.  Students should always ask if it is OK to use the service.   If you plan on conducting web phone casting you can only use the internet after 11:00am and no later than 9:00pm. If you use wireless, then you may use it whenever you like. Please make sure you have configured your wireless to fit the wireless network in America. 

 4.   Students must clean up after themselves at all times and in all rooms of the house.   If you eat breakfast or dinner, clean your dishes after use.

 5.   Please maintain the cleanness in your room at least once a week. Students should maintain cleanness in the restroom area at least once a week, that includes the shower area, toilet, and mopping of the restroom floor.  Trash is collected every Friday morning at 6:00am.  Please empty your trash weekly in the trash container located outside of the house near the area where we park the car.  This will help cut down on insects and smells in the rooms.   

 6.  Students are allowed to wash one load of clothes per week.  

 7. Cleaning products are located in the laundry room and in the kitchen under the sink.

8.  We do not drive students around Los Angeles, students must purchase a bus pass to get around in Los Angeles.

9.   We provide breakfast to students; breakfast is toast, or cereal, only.  Dinner is
usually around 7:00pm if you are late you must call an hour prior to dinner and
let us know.  If we do not receive a call the student is responsible for their own dinner.    Please do not eat any other food besides breakfast that you have not purchased without asking permission to do so.  Students can always purchase food and store it in the kitchen. 

10.  We do not allow visitors at any time in our home.  We do not suggest that students take rides from strangers, nor should students give out our address, cell numbers, or any of our contact information without our consent.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

 11.  If a student breaks anything in our home the student is responsible to pay for the item in full with 3-5 days.

12.  Loud and rude behavior will not be allowed.  Students must respect our family environment
at all times.  No loud talking, no loud music, no walking around the house half dressed, etc.  No walking around the house on your cell phone talking. 

13. Prior to leaving students MUST clean there rooms.  Students must leave their room exactly as it was  when they first arrived in our home.  We now charge a $25 cleaning fee that we will refund upon the students final departure after we have inspected their room and the restroom.

14. If a student has a concern or question for us please wait until we are not busy and are awake to ask us any questions.  Please respect our privacy if our doors are closed do not knock unless it is a real emergency.  The house is burning etc.
